THE PLATONIC SOLIDS Since ancient times, humans have pondered the big questions of life. We have an innate inner longing for meaning….and seek to understand fundamental truths about ourselves and our world and our place in the world. Philosophers dove deep into these contemplations around the turn of the Common Era and explored at great length these metaphysical questions. They leave their writing and research for us to dive into as we explore the same inner questions. One well known philosopher that defined an era of human thought was Plato. Plato explored the theory that the physical world around us is a reflection of a higher truth. And this physical world we see is constructed of basic forms. He encapsulated the foundations of geometry. Plato called the triangle the building block of the universe. Starting with the triangle, and observing patterns and design in nature, we extrapolate all of the polygons, such as the square, hexagon, pentagon, octagon and so on. Polygons are defined as geometric objects with a certain number of points (vertices) and sides (edges). Using the triangle as the basic builder’s tool, we can construct more elaborate polygons, by adding another edge. This image shows this progression well… Three edges give a triangle. Four a square. Add a fifth, we get a pentagon, the sixth side yields a hexagon. We keep adding edges to infinity, and we get a smooth circle.  All that above describes polygons - flat, drawn on paper or 2 dimensional shapes. When we move into the third spatial dimension, and want to build 3D models or solids with volume enclosed, we call those polyhedra. Polyhedron (singular) is a Greek word, meaning “Many Faces”. Polyhedrons are constructed solid shape objects constructed by putting polygons together. Like manga tiles (the kid toy). There is a special exciting subset of polyhedra that have certain defined attributes. A math geek would call these “Regular Polyhedra”. They are constructed of faces of identical polygons. Plato proved that we can only construct 5 such special polyhedra. The 5 solid regular polyhedra are known as the Platonic Solids. They are named after the amount of polygon faces they are built with.  Tetrahedron 4 equilateral triangle faces Hexahedron / Cube 6 square faces Octahedron 8 triangular faces Dodecahedron 12 pentagon faces Icosahedron 20 triangular faces While there is evidence that others used and explored these shapes prior, it was Plato around 350 BC who made them “popular” and of common use. Plato believed these 5 solids were the basic building blocks of our reality. And he went further to associate each shape with an element and a state of matter.  Modern day, many of us use the Platonic Solids as self awareness and recalibration tools. The shape is a vibrational transmission. You can sit with one in your hand, gaze at a picture, or bring the shape into your inner eye. See how it feels. What is communicates to you on a soul level, and what it reveals and shows you. Once you get to know them, these building block shapes are essential and a favorite tool for BUILDERS of LIGHT. We shape light codes, build light bridges, and construct light cities with them. They are the shape and forms that build our light bodies, and all of creation. Holding ourselves within one vibrationally recalibrates your field. The interplay and possibilities are vast.
